JT Series Quarter-Turn Tank Bottom Valve | Neles Easyflow

The quarter-turn tank bottom ball valve enables rapid tank draining or filling, with optional cavity filling and a T-port ball.

Category
Ball Valves

The Neles Easyflow JT Series quarter-turn tank bottom valve features a compact design and provides additional space for actuators on insulated vessels. Its large-bore design ensures an unobstructed flow path for rapid tank draining or filling.

Selection points

  1. Compact Angled-Stem Design

The angled stem and compact design provide additional actuator installation space on insulated vessels.

  2. Large-Diameter Unobstructed Flow Path

The large-diameter unobstructed flow path is suitable for tank bottom applications requiring rapid tank drainage or filling.

  3. Low-Dead-Volume Configuration Options

Cavity-filled and T-shaped flow-path ball options reduce internal valve dead volume and drain the process medium from the valve.

  4. Direct Actuator Mounting and Package Compatibility

The valve uses quarter-turn operation and supports direct actuator mounting. It can also be paired with Neles actuators, switches and intelligent valve controllers.

Installation notes

  1. Tank Bottom-Side Flange Connection and Alignment

The JT Series is a flanged tank bottom valve. During installation, correctly mate and align the tank bottom-side flange with the vessel bottom, and do not rely on tightening bolts to forcibly correct misalignment.

  2. Actuator Installation Position and Travel Matching

The JT Series uses a quarter-turn design with direct actuator mounting. After installing or removing the actuator, confirm that the drive components are correctly matched to the valve stem position, and verify the fully open and fully closed positions.

  3. Drain the Valve Before Maintenance

Drain the medium from the valve before maintenance. For JT Series valves equipped with a cavity-filled or T-shaped flow-path ball option, use the low-dead-volume design and full-drain capability to confirm that the medium has been discharged from the valve.

FAQ

How does the Neles Easyflow JT Series support rapid tank drainage and filling?

The JT Series uses a flanged floating-ball valve design for tank bottom applications and opens and closes through quarter-turn operation. Its large-diameter unobstructed flow path supports rapid tank drainage or filling, while the valve has a compact face-to-face design. Applications include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cosmetics, food and chemical processing.

What is the difference between the cavity-filled and T-shaped flow-path ball options when reducing medium retention inside the valve?

The cavity-filled option uses solid seats to prevent the medium from remaining in the valve cavity. The T-shaped flow-path ball option drains the medium from the cavity between the two seats when the valve is closed. Used together, the two options minimize dead volume and help prevent residual medium from remaining inside the valve.

What design features does the JT Series offer for installation and automated operation on insulated vessels?

The JT Series uses an angled stem and compact design to provide additional actuator installation space on insulated vessels. The valve has large end flanges for direct connection to the tank bottom. Its ISO 5211 mounting platform supports direct installation of handles, gear operators, manual override devices or actuators, and the valve can be paired with Neles actuators, switches and intelligent valve controllers.

What nominal sizes, pressure ratings and connection dimensions should be verified when selecting the JT Series?

The JT Series has nominal sizes from DN25 to DN150 (NPS 1 to 6), a pressure rating of Class 150, and flanges compatible with ASME B16.5 Class 150. The face-to-face dimension follows the manufacturer's standard. During selection, verify the nominal size, flange standard and pressure rating of the tank bottom connection, and check the installation space against the manufacturer's face-to-face dimensions.

How does the JT Series maintain shutoff performance, and does the cavity-filled configuration use the same seat design?

JT Series valves without the cavity-filled feature are equipped as standard with a low-torque seat design that maintains tight shutoff during pressure and temperature cycling. The cavity-filled option uses solid seats. The close drive fit between the stem and ball supports accurate, repeatable shutoff and control. The valve leakage criterion is no visible leakage, tested in accordance with API 598. Each valve is factory-tested, serialized and provided with a quality label before shipment.
